This course has been created by leading scientists in the field of visualisation and its integration with research. The Visualisation in Biomedical Science course has been developed by Dr. Carlotta Moran, a joint lecturer at the School of Media and Communication at Dublin City University and the School of Computer Science at the Dublin Institute of Technology. She is a leading expert in Biomedical Visualisation. Her research interests include medical imaging, computer-aided detection and visualisation, virtual prototyping, virtual reality and haptic technologies, and the integration of these into clinical environments. She has worked as a medical and scientific illustrator, and has worked in industry, lecturing and teaching in the UK, Ireland, Australia, Canada, Ireland, the USA, Brazil and Germany.
The learning environment is very pleasant, because there are enough videos, of which about half are in English. The instructions are very clear, because of the good quality of the videos and the standard that the instructors set. There is no attempt to sell anything or force you to use Blender, but it is a fact that if you want to use Blender for a project, this course is an excellent introduction.
The course is structured in a familiar way for beginners and almost novices, with a lot of exercises and several video tutorials (which are usually longer than the lectures). The lecture videos do not replace the tutorials, but complement them. You can watch the videos at your own pace and grasp the concepts easier, if you are learning at a pace that is suitable for you.
