The Smart-UPS comes with a program called SmartStart that can be run on your Mac to perform a basic initial set up. SmartStart is a proprietary program that APC is required to run, so you have to pay for it. If you don't want to pay then you can download the SmartStart manual and run it on a Windows PC. You'll need a serial port on the PC, and the serial port you're using for the Smart-UPS may need to be configured as a virtual port rather than a physical port. The SmartStart manual is also available on APC's website.
The Smart-UPS uses a proprietary RS-232C cable with a DIN connector. The pinout is similar, but the pin names are different. If you do not own a DIN adapter that has the appropriate pinout, you can buy one. On eBay you can get one for around $10.
To use the SmartSignal cable, plug one end into the Smart-UPS and the other end into the serial port on your computer. There is a control on the SmartSignal cable to toggle the signal levels from 10 to 50 on and off. Note that the SmartSignal cable does not have its own power supply, so you will need to supply power to it from the Smart-UPS. If you have a serial cable for a Smart-UPS that does not support the SmartSignal cable, you can use a standard RS-232 cable for the serial port.

These courses are available for free, because it is easier for a university to share them with you. However, if you want to earn a lot of money with this, then take Udemy ’s course for $15, or Coursera ’s specializations for free. However, Udemy’s free course is much better.
I am running a PC with Windows 7 and Adobe Photoshop CS6. I am wondering how to end the trial period and convert to a full copy of Photoshop CS6. I tried closing down Photoshop, which produced a message telling me to return the disk. I did that, but the same message returned. How can I end this?
